How are you wired?
by Jacqueline Stader
One of my mentors this week posted a blog about the collapse of the superwoman...basically stating how we try to do it all and that ultimately there’s a price to pay and it’s usually with our health. I can relate to that...yes...I admit, I’ve been there done that! But it makes me wonder...what about our inner wiring factors? How does that play into the equation? How does that affect the way we deal with life?
Some of us are wired for the steady road...driving reliable, efficient cars, living in safe, stable but maybe boring day to day situations, preferring the merry-go-round ride of life...taking comforting in our routine, seeing the same things everyday.
While some of us are wired for the challenge of the road...like the high performance sports cars that take a curve as if it’s on rails, providing the same thrills as the top of the line roller coasters, excitement with every twist and turn and the rush of adrenaline pumping through our veins. Always looking for new and exciting things to do and learn.
Yet some of us are wired strictly for speed...where it’s all about the engine power, the precise timing of the action or reaction, drag racing each other to the finish line, the thrill of victory, the plunge off a bridge bungee jumping, the skydiver, the rock climber, the extreme enthusiasts.
Personally, I know I’m a wired with a blend of all the above, I like the grounded steady days spent with the grandkids and loved ones taking in the sights, sounds and smells of life through their eyes. And the high-speed action filled days when I’m juggling about 20 different projects and I’m at my height of career satisfaction and the days where the thrill of the creativity and the action come together is awesome. My husband tells me I’m not happy unless I’m doing Mach 3 with my hair on fire...and I know he’s right...I’m wired for the challenges of life, the adrenaline bursts, the excitement of changes, always learning, growing and hopefully evolving into a better person. I know I only have one ride on this roller coaster called life and I want to be the one sliding into my grave with a chocolate bar in one hand and a cocktail in the other yelling...Holy Cow...What a Ride!
Do you know how you are wired and what would you re-wire about yourself? There’s something we all should think more about...
